MARC O’POLO International GmbH with its HQ in Stephanskirchen has long been one of the most successful companies in the segment of modern premium casual wear. They opened their first mono-label stores in China in 2014. The corporation’s success story is now being continued in 2015 with market-specific collections prepared in cooperation with MARC O’POLO Hong Kong Ltd.Obtaining specific information for the Chinese market such as labeling standards, safety types and different sizing requirements represented a special challenge for the development of the collection.
It was necessary to record this information twice for one and the same article both for MARC O’POLO International GmbH and for MARC O’POLO Hong Kong Ltd. The collection therefore had to be developed in parallel for two different companies (or also clients). Since such a fundamental conversion to this variable collection development would have had a serious effect on ongoing operations, the system conversion of the product lifecycle management (PLM) solution TEX DEFINE™ could only take place over one single night so that work on the collection could restart punctually the very next morning.
As long-term partners, Koppermann and MARC O’POLO were able to prepare a common procedural plan, to create a test environment and to finalize the process conversion. Not one single user experienced even the slightest blip in their daily work. The data transfer to the existing INTEX ERP system was seamlessly integrated into the new process over the same time period.
This far-reaching process change was able to be implemented in live operation thanks to the highly flexible database structures of Koppermann TEX DEFINE™ – no other PLM system would have been able to carry out such an optimization in such a short time.
Both sides are now looking forward to further exciting projects after mastering this challenge. For one thing is certain – a PLM solution which is so close to the pulse of a corporation will also power every other further development.
